Lumoz

Key Takeaways

  • Lumoz (previously Opside) is a Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) project specialized for zk rollups, allowing developers to launch zk rollups without coding easily.
  • The IDE token of Lumoz is used to incentivize 1) validators of the Lumoz Chain (L1) and 2) its own prover network and is also necessary for launching rollups.

1. Overview

Lumoz is a RaaS project specialized for zk rollups, allowing developers to easily launch zk rollups without coding. Its most distinguishing feature compared to other RaaS projects is that it has its own prover network. Through tokenomics, it incentivizes provers to generate validity proofs for zk rollups, ensuring the security of the zk rollups in the Lumoz ecosystem.

Notably, aside from zk rollups launched through Lumoz, there is also an L1 called the Lumoz chain. zk rollups launched via Lumoz can use the Lumoz chain as the base layer. Lumoz Chain employs a modified version of Ethereum's PoS algorithm, and anyone can participate as a validator if they have Lumoz tokens.

2. Execution

Lumoz supports VMs specialized for zk such as zkSync, Polygon zkEVM, Scroll, and StarkNet.

3. Settlement

Lumoz has built its own prover network called ZK-PoW. For the settlement layer that verifies ZKPs, it supports Ethereum, Lumoz chain, BNB chain, and Polygon PoS, and the ZK-PoW Cloud is deployed across these chains. Miners can provide the computational power necessary to generate ZKPs and receive token rewards.

4. Data Availability

Lumoz supports Ethereum, Lumoz chain, BNB chain, and Polygon PoS as DA layer, just like the settlement layer. Notably, they plan to support EIP-4844 during the Alpha testnet phase of the Lumoz Chain.

5. Interoperability

Basically, a Rollup Bridge is provided between the Lumoz chain and the base layer, and ChainSafe's ChainBridge solution is supported as a bridge between the Lumoz chain and other L1s. This bridge structure requires a trusted entity, a role performed by the Lumoz official team. By the end of 2023, they plan to support asset transfer and cross-chain messaging through the ZK-Bridge.

6. Business Model

Lumoz plans to launch its own token called IDE, which will serve as an incentive for Validators of the Lumoz Chain and Provers of the ZK-PoW Cloud. Moreover, developers can rent a Rollup slot with a certain amount of IDE tokens, similar to Polkadot's parachain auction, to deploy zk rollups via Lumoz.
